Of Mice, Men and Cell Cultures: Cryptosporidium parvum (Genotype 2) Infectivity This presentation was given at the 1st International Conference on Microbiological Risk Assessment: Foodborne Hazards, held in Adelphi, MD on July 24-26, 2002. It examines what laboratory models are contributing to the assessment of waterborne exposure to Cryptosporidium oocysts, whether the data from various studies are comparable, and how risk assessment modelers can use this data in a meaningful way. Finally, the results of a study of three C. parvum genotype 2 isolates that were compared using three different model systems are presented.
